Frequently Asked Questions
How do I create my first deck?
From the home screen, tap the "+" button or "New Deck" to start creating a deck. You will be guided through three steps: choosing a subject, configuring subject-specific settings (such as CEFR level for language decks), and naming your deck. Once created, you can add cards by tapping "Add Card" within the deck.
How does spaced repetition work?
Spaced repetition is a learning technique based on the finding that memories are strengthened most effectively when reviewed at increasing intervals just before you would naturally forget them. CogniFlow uses a modified SM-2 algorithm to calculate the optimal review time for every card based on how well you rated your recall.
Can I import my Anki decks?
Anki import (.apkg file support) is planned for a future update. When available, you will be able to import your existing Anki decks directly into CogniFlow and the app will automatically map your cards to the appropriate subject-specific methodology.
How do I cancel my subscription?
iOS: Open Settings on your device, tap your name at the top, tap "Subscriptions," find CogniFlow, and tap "Cancel Subscription." Your Pro features will remain active until the end of your current billing period.
Android: Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, tap "Payments & subscriptions," then "Subscriptions," find CogniFlow, and tap "Cancel subscription."
After cancellation, your existing decks and cards remain accessible in read-only mode. You do not lose any data.
Is my data backed up?
CogniFlow stores all data locally on your device for maximum privacy. There is no cloud backup or sync feature. CogniFlow Pro subscribers can export their data in JSON format from the app's settings. We recommend making regular exports as a personal backup.
How do I delete a deck or card?
Delete a card: While viewing a deck, swipe left on any card to reveal the delete option, or tap the card to open it and use the delete button.
Delete a deck: From the home screen, long-press on a deck card to reveal the context menu, then select "Delete Deck."
Delete all data: Go to Settings and select "Delete All Data" to remove everything. This action is irreversible.
What does the CEFR level mean for language decks?
CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is an internationally recognized standard for describing language proficiency. Your declared CEFR level affects how CogniFlow schedules your cards: beginner levels have a lower daily new-card limit and adjusted ease factors.
Why does the app schedule reviews at specific times?
CogniFlow uses your chronotype preference (morning person, neutral, or evening person) and the science of ultradian rhythms to schedule study sessions. During your peak window, CogniFlow schedules the most demanding work: new cards, difficult reviews, and interleaved STEM sessions.
How is CogniFlow different from Anki?
CogniFlow builds on the same foundational SM-2 algorithm but adds subject-specific methodology (different techniques for math, biology, languages), intelligent scheduling based on chronotype, native iOS and Android design, and a zero-telemetry privacy architecture.
Does CogniFlow work offline?
Yes, completely. CogniFlow is designed to work 100% offline. The only feature that requires a network connection is the initial subscription purchase or restoration through the App Store or Play Store.
Troubleshooting
App will not open or crashes on launch
Make sure your device meets the minimum requirements: iOS 17.0 or later, or Android 8.0 (API 26) or later. Try force-quitting the app and reopening it. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall CogniFlow. Note that reinstalling will remove all local study data — export your data first if possible (Pro subscribers).
Subscription not working or Pro features locked
iOS: Open CogniFlow, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID used to purchase the subscription.
Android: Open CogniFlow, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases." Ensure you are signed into the same Google account used for the purchase.
If the issue persists, contact us at [email protected].
Notifications not appearing
iOS: Go to device Settings > Notifications > CogniFlow and make sure notifications are enabled. Also verify that Do Not Disturb or a Focus mode is not blocking CogniFlow notifications.
Android: Go to device Settings > Apps > CogniFlow > Notifications and ensure the notification channel is enabled. Some manufacturers apply aggressive battery optimization that can block notifications — check Settings > Battery > CogniFlow.
